The 22nd of June, 1944 saw one of the most massive assualts by the Soviets of the war. Over the first 4 days of the campaign the Soviets would batter themselves against the desperate German defenses. The opening battles would carry the Soviet front across the German defensive line. Fighting for the strategic railways that linked the cities in Byelorussia, with the ultimate prize being Minsk, is by no means a foregone conclusion.
